Entry Fees
PCAS Membership Ticket ($25) or Weekly Pass ($30) plus $1.00 for each item entered.Entries should be made in Fair Entry or at the Fair Office, but entry fees will be collected at check-in.Junior Photo entries only: Mats - $3.00 and Plastic Sleeve - $1.50
Rules and Regulations: Both artwork and photographs
  • Exhibitors may not enter in more than one division and must choose the Junior Class or the Adult Class. Articles previously shown at the Preble County Fair are not eligible for re-entry.
  • When checking in entries, have tags prepared. Exhibitors will be given receipts for each entry. These receipts must be presented when entries are picked up at the end of the Fair. No artwork or photograph will be released without presentation of a receipt.
  • The Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry deemed inappropriate for viewing by the general public.
  • All entries are to remain on display until the release date. Any exhibitor removing entries before that date will be banned from exhibiting the following year and will forfeit all earned premiums.
  • The exhibitor assumes responsibility for any loss or damage to his/her entries due to fire, theft, or other causes.
  • Two entries are permitted in a Lot within a given class.
  • Entries must be two years old or less.
  • All framed work must have WIRE HANGERS ONLY, securely attached to the frame. No saw tooth hangers.
  • All entries must be created by the exhibitor.
Rules and Regulations: Artwork only
  • All artwork must be securely tagged and identified with the artist’s name, class and lot of work. All adult and school age 9th to 12th 2 dimensional entries must be framed. Children’s K through 8th 2 dimensional entries must be framed, matted or mounted on a backing board, such as poster board. Seniors and Developmentally Disabled entries may be framed, matted, or mounted on a backing board.
  • Work must not exceed 30” x 30”. 3-D works must not exceed a 30” x 30” footprint.
Judging of artwork is highly subjective, however judges generally emphasize the following criteria:
  • Technical Excellence: craftsmanship and presentation (20)
  • Content: originality, subject matter and creativity (20)
  • Composition: artistic merit narrative, focal point, balance (20)
  • Overall Impact: how the artwork comes together, this is the most subjective of the criteria (40)
Rules and Regulations: Photographs only
  • Junior Class photo entries must NOT be framed or be covered with glass or Plexiglas and must be 8” x 10” in size. Additionally, prints must be matted with the outside dimension, after matting, of 11” x 14”. Multiple matting is acceptable but no mats can be larger or smaller than 11” x 14”. Photographs submitted must be contained in a clear plastic envelope, large enough to hold the 11” x 14” mat (s). Mats and sleeves will be available for purchase at the Fair Office $3 per mat and $1.50 per sleeve.
  • Adult photographs must be framed.
  • Senior and DD entries may be framed, matted or mounted on a backing board.

Open to anyone over the age of 55. Entries may be framed, matted or mounted on a backing board. Note: There will be no entry fee and no premiums paid. Ribbons will be awarded. Anyone wishing to earn premiums must enter in the regular open Adult Class and pay the appropriate exhibitors’ fees.
Class - D. Developmentally Disabled

Class - E. In Memory of Katherine R. Rader (New for 2024)
Katherine was a longtime supporter of the Preble County Fair and she enjoyed creating her art. We encourage anyone owning any of her art to enter and display her work. Award for this class donated by Jane Marshall.
