Livestock Judging Contest
Thursday, August 1, 9 am
General Rules
- 1. Judging will begin at 9 am on Thursday
- 2. Contestants can register at Expo Show Arena bleachers at 8:15 am on Thursday.
- 3. Any Preble County FFA Chapter or 4-H Club member may enter.
- 4. A team will consist of the top four scores from the chapter/club a contestant designates.
- 5. Contestants can only represent one chapter/club and that must be declared at the time of registration.
- 6. The contest is opened to an unlimited number of contestants from each chapter/club.
- 7. Contestants are not permitted to handle any livestock during the event.
- 8. Worksheets and pencils will be used and provided.
- 9. The following are possible classes to be judged:
- a. Market Steers
- b. Breeding Heifers
- c. Market Lambs
- d. Breeding Sheep
- e. Market Hogs
- f. Breeding Gilts
- g. Market Goats
- 10. Each class will consist of four animals and four questions.
- 11. Each contestant will be allowed 10 minutes per class.
- 12. There will be no talking or interactions of any kind between judging contestants during the contest; this included parents and judging coaches.
- 13. All parents and coaches are asked to refrain from entering the judging arena until after the contestants have been dismissed.
- 14. Use of electronic communication devices is prohibited.
- 15. Awards will be presented prior to announcing the Showman of Showmen Contest.
- 16. Ties will be broken using the contestants’ question scores.
